Not only was I saying goodbye to my Mother and Mother-in-law (who died within a few months of each other) but also I am wishing them a safe journey "onwards".
I wrote the piano part later in my London Studio but the dark evolving movement and the chords emerged in the Detroit Basement. The chimes are here too, and recorder doubles the piano.
